Tinkersfield: A Luxury Snowy Mountains Escape in Crackenback Valley

Tinkersfield: A Luxury Snowy Mountains Escape in Crackenback Valley

After spending a week camping and hiking our way through the Snowy Mountains, arriving at Tinkersfield felt like the ultimate reward.

For seven days we'd been living out of our car or backpacks, waking up to frosty mornings and carrying everything we needed on our backs through Kosciuszko National Park. While we wouldn't have traded the experience for anything, the thought of a warm bed, a deep bath and a washing machine felt like pure luxury. After a quick google search to see what was around in the area (and available last minute) we happily stumbled across Tinkersfield.

Nestled within the beautiful Crackenback Valley, just a short drive from Jindabyne, it provided exactly the kind of rest and recovery we were craving.

A Boutique Stay in the Heart of the Snowy Mountains

If you're looking for luxury accommodation in the Snowy Mountains that feels connected to nature without sacrificing comfort, Tinkersfield strikes the perfect balance.

Set amongst rolling paddocks with uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains, the property feels wonderfully secluded while still being conveniently located near many of the region's best attractions. Whether you're visiting during ski season, planning a hiking adventure in Kosciuszko National Park or simply looking for a relaxing Snowy Mountains getaway, Tinkersfield makes an ideal base.

One of the first things that caught my attention was the design. The interiors look as though they've been lifted straight from a Scandinavian-inspired Pinterest board. Timber, steel and concrete combine to create a modern aesthetic, while linen bedding, warm textures and natural materials soften the space and make it feel instantly welcoming.

Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, creating a stay that feels both stylish and comfortable.

Slow Mornings and Simple Pleasures

After a week of constantly moving, one of the greatest luxuries was simply slowing down.

Our mornings began with coffee overlooking the property as kangaroos and deer wandered through the paddocks. The pace of life here just feels different. There was no rush to be anywhere, no packed itinerary to follow - just time to enjoy the view, read a book, sit by the fire and appreciate the quiet.

The deep bath quickly became one of my favourite features of the stay. After days spent hiking through alpine terrain, soaking in warm water while looking out at the surrounding landscape was exactly what tired legs needed.

Cooking, Comfort and Thoughtful Hospitality

One of the things I loved most about Tinkersfield was how easy it was to settle in and make yourself at home.

The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare simple meals during our stay, making it feel less like accommodation and more like a temporary home in the mountains. For those wanting a complete break from cooking, the owners also offer delicious home-cooked meals delivered directly to your door - a thoughtful touch that perfectly complements the relaxed atmosphere.

It's these small details that elevate the experience and make Tinkersfield stand out among other accommodation options in the Snowy Mountains.

Exploring Crackenback, Jindabyne and Beyond

While it would be easy to spend your entire stay curled up by the fire, Tinkersfield's location makes it an excellent base for exploring the wider region.

Located in Crackenback Valley, you're within easy reach of:

  • Jindabyne
  • Kosciuszko National Park
  • Thredbo
  • Perisher
  • The Main Range Walk
  • Snowy Mountains hiking trails
  • Alpine villages and scenic drives

Whether you're visiting for skiing, hiking, mountain biking or simply enjoying the beauty of the Australian Alps, everything is within a short drive.

Some places are simply somewhere to sleep between adventures. Others become part of the experience itself. Tinkersfield falls firmly into the second category.

With its thoughtful design, peaceful setting and close proximity to some of the best attractions in the Snowy Mountains, it offers the perfect blend of luxury and adventure. It's the kind of place that encourages you to slow down, breathe a little deeper and stay just one more night.

If you're searching for accommodation near Jindabyne or planning a Snowy Mountains escape, Tinkersfield deserves a place at the top of your list.
